# Precautions for using third-party DApps

DApp, in simple terms, is an application developed based on blockchain. It can be run and authorized through the DApp browser. Because of the "openness" of the DApp browser in the wallet, any developer or individual can open the application they need to use through the DApp browser.

Unlike DApps already included in the wallet, using third-party DApps sent by others or obtained from the Internet often involves high risks, because in the past, asset loss, theft, or inability to withdraw funds from participating projects all occurred when using third-party DApps. Therefore, when using third-party DApps, you must pay attention to the following matters:

1\. When participating in a third-party DApp, you need to check whether the project has an audit report from a formal security company. If the code has not undergone a security audit, it often contains backdoors that can directly misappropriate the user's assets or arbitrarily freeze the accounts involved in the investment, ultimately making it impossible to withdraw the assets.

2\. When participating in third-party DApps, you need to observe the protection prompt interface for contract calls in the wallet. For example, if a contract calls Approve or other methods to obtain malicious authorization, a corresponding contract call risk prompt will appear in the wallet. If you encounter such a prompt, you must stop the operation and feedback can be sent to our email: STARTOWER\@STARTOWER. Please do not authorize rashly.

3\. In order to avoid repeated authorization by users, DApp developers usually set the maximum number of tokens authorized to smart contracts by default. Therefore, when performing authorization operations, a reasonable number of authorizations should be set. This can be set in the StarTower transaction interface to avoid all authorized tokens being stolen due to malicious authorization.

4\. Please be sure to understand the disclaimer for using third-party DApps through the DApp browser:

\>1. This DApp does not belong to StarTower. This DApp is completely controlled by the project owner! Please be sure to understand the security of this DApp before using it.

\>2. You understand that any loss caused by your access to the DApp will be borne by you personally and has nothing to do with StarTower:

\>3. If you encounter any problems while using the DAPp, you need to contact the project owner directly for resolution.
